The dance world tells former professional dancers their time is over.
Were you told you’re…
Too old?
Too injured?
The wrong look?
To lose dance is to feel lost. You lose your ability to make sense of the world.
To be sidelined as an artist feels like what you have to offer no longer matters.
The dance world is wrong to see beauty and talent only in young artists.
It shouldn’t be so hard to find a space that values your art. As a former professional dancer, you deserve the opportunity to truly dance again.
Oyo gives former professional dancers a space to truly dance again.
Hoyo's founder, Rachel, knows what it's like to feel lost as a former professional dancer. She has experienced the need to have a space where she can truly dance.
Rachel is a governor's School for the Arts Alumna and trained under master instructors (Joffrey, ABT, Martha Graham, NYC Ballet) with 27 years of professional dancing experience.

Who Oyo Is For
This is your space if:
You're a mature dancer who still has artistry to share.
You believe dance should make people feel something, not just be pretty.
You want to be coached to a real standard while honoring your body.
You're open to taking part in the community outreach Oyo does beyond the stage.
You want to find a new perspective on the dance world than what you were trained in.
A note for younger dancers: Oyo is designed to be intergenerational. If you're earlier in your career and want to learn from former professional dancers, there's a place for you in Oyo, too.
Who Oyo Isn’t For
Oyo isn’t a good fit for you if:
You want a casual, no standard space to just move and have fun. (That's great, but then Oyo wouldn't be right for you.)
You're not interested in story-driven performances on humanity, justice and community.
You believe dancers should look a certain way, and you won't open your mind to other possibilities.
You have no interest in serving the community off the stage.
